Using Particle Bait Mix

Matt explains all about particle mix as he uses this on his 3rd rod fishing for carp.He wants his boilie hook bait surrounded by a bed of particles.He uses a spod to get the mix out he explains how he used to make his own particle mix using hemp and maize . Nowadays he buys dynamite baits because of the quality.Mega concentrated particle baits ratger than cooking your own and all the flavour and smell being boiled out of them. If you are going to make your own particle mix you must make sure thet are prepared thoroughly as once out in the water if done incorrectly they could swell up and kill a carp or any other fish that feeds on them.

His spod mix is hemp seed, frenzied hem,p maize, mini tiger nuts plus mixed particles of nuts and seeds all of these are mixed up in a Tfg spod bucket and in doing so all the oils are released which are packed with starch and sugar .

Then once all is mixed get your spod rod out with your baitrocket attatched fill it with your spod mix of particles and aim at your marker float.

Spodding does take practice as a spod full of bait can weigh eight ounces.Thats why he uses a special spod rod called The Grunt combined with a big pit reel with a large wide spool loaded with braid and the reason is it needs some serious cranking power to retrieve the spod over a days fishing.The Grunt is a very powerfull rod that was designed just for spodding .After you have cast it out when the bait rocket hits the water it will turn upside down and deposit your bait into the water hopefully near your marker float.Best to practise a few cast without any bait in at first and use your line clip once you have cast to the exact spot.

Dont make the mistake of retrieving the spod instantly give it a few seconds to deposit your particle baits totally in order to present any cruising carp a carpet of bait to get their heads down on
